I would like to welcome you to the Fox-in-the-Kitchen Substitutes Page. I believe you will find some useful information here. Fox-in-the-Kitchen is always open and happy to have visitors. 

I initially felt overwhelmed by the idea of transitioning into a Gluten Free lifestyle but it was through that transition, that I rediscovered the joys of cooking. Years ago, when our kids were little, our life was centred in the kitchen. It was always a warm and inviting place us to gather. Back then, I spent a good deal of time crafting good tasting, healthy and wholesome foods for our young family but transitioning to a GF lifestyle, made me realize just how far we have drifted away from being together in the kitchen and from that wholesome diet we once enjoyed. Not only has going Gluten Free made me feel healthier but it’s gotten me back into crafting some pretty amazing foods. 

My wish to share and maybe inspire others to get into the kitchen is what made me decide to try my hand at blogging. I will be very proud and happy if I can help and/or influence even one person to cut not just gluten, but some of the ‘not so healthy overly processed foods’ that have become such a big part of our diets. 

Even if you are not sensitive to gluten—or not sure if you are—it is recommended that everyone cut their intake of gluten-containing foods to help decrease the risk of becoming sensitive to it. 

My intent for this substitutions page, is to have a ‘one-stop’ resource for anyone who wants  to cook healthier, more wholesome foods. Although most of my focus will be primarily on Gluten Free cooking and baking, I’ve also been known to experiment with other dietary lifestyles. As you can see by the length of my resources list (bottom of page), I spend a good deal of time on the internet, clicking on and reading various food blogs/sites. I’m happy to share my findings with you. As I come across new things all the time, I expect this page will be a work in progress. I do not have any official schooling or training as a cook or a baker. Most of the information on this Substitutions Page comes from various websites, as well as some info gained from my own personal experience and experimentation. The things I blog about and the recipes I share are  from personal experience.  At the bottom of this page, you will find a list of various website resources that I found useful when gathering the information contained here. 

Please note that as I’m relatively new to Gluten Free cooking, I have not tested all the suggestions and substitutions included on this page. However, all the recipes I post on this blog are Gluten Free and tested in the Fox Kitchen unless stated otherwise.
