Blogpost: Fox Tasting Panel Has A New Member And Some Minor Site Changes
We here in the Fox Kitchen are very excited about the arrival of a new member (in training) for our tasting panel. We have a sweet little granddaughter. She surprised us on the 7th when she arrived a few weeks early. At just over six pounds, she is petite but strong and healthy.
A little sister for our Broccoli Man. She’s too new to sample any of Nana’s (that’s me) gluten free cooking but once she gets old enough, I’m sure she’s going to love it.
And what does her Nana think? When I held her in my arms for the first time, tears of pure joy welled up inside of me. Joyful tears! Tears of gratitude for every single thing that has ever happened in my life because all of it moved me forward to that moment!

Blogging has had to take a back seat. I’ve been over at our daughter’s house most days as she recovers from the delivery and adjusts to having a new baby in her life. Its great being available to help out. Not much time for blogging but I managed to make a few changes to my site.
Out of necessity, I had to add an extra filter to my comment system. Most of you won’t notice any difference (I hope) but once in a while, to make sure the comment is by a human being, a commenter will get redirected to a page where they’re challenged to enter a CAPTCHA.
I don’t care for CAPTCHA, especially the ones that ask you to read a string of wobbly letters and numbers. I always have trouble reading those things. I had to come up with an extra filter for my site after it crashed because spammers overloaded the server. I’m on WordPress and have found Akismet Is pretty good at isolating spammy comments, 10,590 so far this year. I was happy when I found and installed “Conditional CAPTCHA” by Samir Shah. The Plug-In sees Akismet is active on my site. It serves a simple (without the wobbly characters) CAPTCHA whenever Akismet identifies a comment as spam.

I’ve also added some affiliate links on my sidebar. This Fox Kitchen site has been Ad free since June 2012, after I decided to ditch Adsense by Google. I worried the Ads were too in your face mind numbing. It was not generating any revenue for me anyway.
If you place an order after clicking on any of the affiliate links, the cost to you remains the same, but I may receive a small stipend for referring you. I will also be including some affiliate links in my posts.
In the near future, I hope to add some Sponsors to the sidebar and write some sponsored posts. If I’m compensated monetarily by a Sponsor, I will let you know. I’m also working on getting some gluten free products to review. If I review a product, it will be about something that I was given to keep but the views in the post will be my own.
Hopefully, you won’t find the Affiliate and Sponsor additions too annoying. They are the only way I have of supporting this blogging addiction. If I get the opportunity, I might run some give-aways. Those are always fun!
Thank you for your ongoing support
